CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP-winning jockey Robbie Power could be out for up to three weeks after fracturing two ribs in a fall at Killarney on Monday.
Meath native Power was on board race favourite Woodland Opera, when he fell at the second-last fence in the Grade Three McSweeney Arms Hotel An Riocht Chase. The race was won by Ballycasey.
Speaking to the Racing Post, Power explained: ”I have cracked two ribs. They are the first two ribs in my chest and it’s quite sore. I went to see my specialist Paddy Kenny this morning and he says I will be out for two to three weeks.

“Woodland Opera actually jumped the fence fine but he landed steeply and paid the price. It was a pity as he’d jumped very well to that point.”
Power has earned some impressive wins over the last few months, including the Irish Gold Cup, Cheltenham Gold Cup and Punchestown Gold Cup. He also gave trainer Jessica Harrington her first Grand National success on board Our Duke last month.
But the 36-year-old has suffered from injury troubles, including a spinal injury in January as well as fractures to his cheekbone and eye-socket after a fall at the Galway festival last summer.

He required special goggles after that injury, which he says helped him to victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
